Fluttering Farewell: Third Graders Release Their Painted Ladies!

Our South Grove third graders officially earned their wings as junior entomologists this week! For the past month, these curious scientists have been closely observing the incredible lifecycle of Painted Lady butterflies right in their classrooms. From tiny, crawling caterpillars to motionless chrysalises, the students tracked every stage of metamorphosis with detailed science journals. The unforgettable unit culminated in a beautiful, sunny afternoon out on the school grounds for "Release Day." There were gasps of delight and plenty of cheers as dozens of newly formed butterflies took their very first flights into the South Grove gardens. We are so proud of our third graders for taking such excellent care of their tiny insect friends—wishing our butterflies a safe and wonderful journey!
